The picturesque village of Ouderkerk aan de Amstel is conveniently located close to both Amsterdam and Amstelveen. The International School (ISA) is a mere 14 minutes by car and only 22 minutes by bike. Amsterdam is a few minutes by car, half an hour’s bike ride along the gorgeous Amstel river, and an easy bus and metro/tram ride by public transport. The A2 and A9 motorways can be easily accessed. Schiphol airport is 15-20 minutes away.
Ouderkerk is well known for its restaurants and café’s by the Amstel river and its beautiful green surroundings (despite being only a few minutes by car from Amsterdam). Nature lovers will appreciate the nearby ancient polder fields and lakes which are an important site for migrating birds.
Ouderkerk is an excellent place for outdoors and sports activities, with easy access to watersports and swimming (both in the nearby Ouderkerk lake and the local open air swimming pool), beautiful running and biking routes, and traditional sports facilities including gyms and club-based sports including soccer, hockey and tennis.
