Slaat u bij de molen rechtsaf dan fietst u via een prachtige route langs de Amstel een kwartiertje later Amsterdam in. Het is 30 minuten fietsen van de woning naar het centrum van Amsterdam. Praktisch naast de woning ligt een park met speeltuin en voetbalveld. Via dit park loopt u in enkele minuten naar winkelcentrum Sluisplein waar een grote Jumbo supermarkt is. Voor mensen met schoolgaande kinderen is het goed om te weten dat de basisschool een paar minuten lopen is terwijl de middelbare school een kwartiertje fietsen is. Het sfeervolle dorpscentrum en de vele bekende restaurants aan de Amstelzijde liggen op loopafstand. Ouderkerk wordt omgeven door veel natuur waaronder één van de oudste poldergebieden van Nederland aan de overzijde van de woning, de Ouderkerkerplas, een heerlijk strandbad en wandelgebied en de Ronde Hoep, een met name bij fietsers zeer geliefd gebied. Er zijn diverse sportfaciliteiten in het dorp waaronder voetbalvelden, tennisbanen, sporthal en openlucht zwembad. Even verderop ligt een 27-holes golfbaan. Door de centrale ligging bent u met de auto in ca. 7 minuten in Amsterdam, Stadshart Amstelveen, het prachtige overdekte winkelcentrum met een enorm aanbod aan winkels en horeca en het Arena gebied met treinstation, bioscoop, concertzalen en Johan Cruyff Arena. Op enkele minuten loopafstand is de halte van de snelbus die u in ca 25 minuten naar Schiphol brengt en vervolgens doorrijdt naar Haarlem. DE BEWONERS AAN HET WOORD
We hebben hier bijna 30 jaar gewoond. Gekomen in de koude winter van 1996. Vanuit de woonkamer zag je in de verte de schaatsers op de natuurijsbaan met daarnaast een draaiende molen. Hollandser kon het niet. Rustig wonen in een gemoedelijk dorp met Amsterdam binnen handbereik, een prachtig uitzicht over de polder richting Amsterdam, een tuin met de hele dag zon, met de fiets in 20 minuten naar het werk in Amsterdam, met de bus in 25 minuten op Schiphol, snel nog even naar de supermarkt die op een paar minuten loopafstand ligt, met een heerlijk glas wijn bij de open haard waar sinterklaas jaarlijks de cadeautjes achterliet en kerstmis extra sfeer kreeg, zijn slechts enkele praktische zaken en heerlijke herinneringen die ons hier zo lang hebben gehouden. Voor de kinderen was het een paradijs, spelen en vissen voor de deur of in het park, paar minuutjes lopen naar school en op de fiets naar de sportclub. De kinderen zijn de deur uit en voor ons breekt nu een nieuwe fase aan.

THE OWNERS PERSPECTIVE
We have lived here for almost 30 years, having moved in during the cold winter of 1996. From the living room, we could see skaters in the distance on the natural ice rink, with the windmill turning beside them. It could not have been more Dutch. Living peacefully in a friendly village while keeping Amsterdam within easy reach, enjoying stunning views over the polder towards the city, a garden with sunshine all day, cycling to work in Amsterdam within 20 minutes, reaching Schiphol by bus in 25 minutes, and having the supermarket just a few minutes away. The fireplace has been the centrepiece of many memorable evenings, from Sinterklaas celebrations to cosy Christmas gatherings. These are only some of the practical advantages and cherished memories that have kept us here for so long. For our children, it was a paradise: playing outdoors, fishing nearby, walking to school, and cycling to sports clubs. Now that the children have left home, a new chapter awaits us.
