Butzelaar CS Architecten heeft het in 2020 opgeleverde project "Schalkse Hoek" ontworpen. Het gebouw bestaat uit 12 appartementen. De duurzame en onderhoudsvriendelijke materialen sluiten prachtig aan bij de bestaande bebouwing en de natuurlijk omgeving. Het L-vormige gebouw oogt rustig door de rechte lijnen en neutrale kleurgebruik met daarbij een luxe en moderne uitstraling.

Energieneutraal en duurzaam wonen zijn toch wel de kernwoorden van dit project. Zo zijn de woningen voorzien van een warmtepomp voor vloerverwarming en koeling. De koeling zorgt op een natuurlijke manier voor een aangename temperatuur op een hete zomerdag of nacht. De appartementen worden geventileerd door middel van een intelligent, gebalanceerd ventilatiesysteem: het WTW (warmte-terug-win) systeem. Het trappenhuis en de algemene ruimten worden op natuurlijke wijze geventileerd. Elk appartement heeft een eigen set PV-panelen om te voorzien in de eigen energievraag.

Het complex heeft een gunstige ligging naast het boom- en waterrijke Engelandpark en vlakbij het iconische Spaarne. Om de hoek vind je meerdere winkels met onder andere een winkelcentrum, supermarkt en bakker. Er is een zeer goede verbinding, met zowel de auto als het openbaar vervoer, naar Amsterdam/Hoofddorp/Schiphol (bushalte op loopafstand). Binnen 10 minuten fietsen sta je midden in het historische centrum van Haarlem of op het NS-station, met 25 minuten fietsen rijd je door de duinen naar het strand.

The cooling system naturally ensures a pleasant temperature on a hot summer day or night. The flats are ventilated by a intelligent, balanced ventilation system: the heat recovery system. The stairwell and common areas are ventilated naturally. Each flat has its own set of PV panels to meet its own energy needs.

The complex is conveniently located next to the green and water-rich Engelandpark and close to the iconic Spaarne river. Around the corner, you will find several shops, including a shopping centre, supermarket and bakery. There are excellent connections, both by car and public transport, to Amsterdam/Hoofddorp/Schiphol (bus stop within walking distance). Within 10 minutes by bicycle, you are in the historic centre of Haarlem or at the railway station, and a 25-minute bicycle ride takes you through the dunes to the beach.
