Een gevel vol geschiedenis
De voorgevel, bekleed met Naamse hardsteen, straalt de gratie van 1763 uit. Hier toont de Amsterdamse rococo zich van haar meest verfijnde kant. De sierlijke trap, met het zeldzame “harpstuk”, verwelkomt u als een ouverture naar wat binnen wacht.

Een interieur als tijdcapsule
Achter de monumentale voordeur ontvouwt zich een wereld van verfijning. Het hoofdappartement, met een woonoppervlakte van 247 m², ademt de grandeur van de achttiende eeuw. Originele rococo-wanden en -plafonds, in 1763 vervaardigd door Italiaanse meesters, tonen een ambacht dat nauwelijks meer bestaat.
De trapleuningen, met de hand in hout gesneden, lijken haast te bewegen. Onder uw voeten ligt de hal bekleed met Carrara-marmer in “en livre ouvert”-patronen, waar de tijd gespiegeld wordt in steen.
In de entree houdt de godin Minerva de symbolen van Geloof, Hoop en Liefde in haar armen — een monumentaal stucwerkbeeld dat dit huis tot een klein stadspaleis verheft.

Ruimtes vol karakter
De zeventiende-eeuwse keuken ademt de sfeer van Rembrandts tijd, met een Port d’Or marmeren rococo-schouw en een vloer in blokpatroon van marmer.
De salon, met originele betimmering uit 1763, straalt warmte uit dankzij het rode damast en de St. Anne-marmeren schouw.
De eetkamer, met uitzicht op de gracht, is gedecoreerd in goudgroen damast en een Blue Turquin marmeren schouw — elegantie en rust in één blik. De voormalige “pruikenkamer” functioneert als kantoor en bibliotheek en is met imposante, 4 meter hoge boekenkasten uitgerust.
De opkamer, ook wel “de Sael” genoemd, kijkt uit over de tuin én het voormalige woonhuis van Michiel Adriaanszoon de Ruyter. De imposante Blue Turquin-schouw maakt van deze ruimte een vorstelijke slaapkamer.
Achterin bevindt zich een ruime kamer met inloopkast, douche en toilet, grenzend aan de tuin. Daaronder een grote kelder, thans in gebruik als opslag, maar even goed geschikt voor fitness ruimte of atelier.

Badkamer:

In de voormalige “drijvende kelder” met een gemetseld tongewelf uit 1648, is met antieke bouwmaterialen een “Romeinse badkamer” ingericht met een porfier Empire bad, Dorische zuilen, Antwerpse bronzen atlanten en een renaissance leeuwenkop als water spuger. Lodewijk de 14de zandstenen lambriquins completeren het geheel. Het geheel is uitgerust emt een wit marmeren vloer met vloerverwarming, douches een toilet en een bidet.

In 1763 liet de derde generatie De Witt het huis volledig in rococo-stijl verbouwen en de beroemde stuclichtkoepel aanbrengen — het pronkstuk dat dit pand zijn Rijksmonument-status verleende.
